Experience
Qualifications: I have an MA in English from LMU with a focus in rhetoric and composition (the theory and practice of teaching college composition). This makes me a college instructor, and therefore, qualified to tutor composition. Furthermore, I am currently enrolled at LMU for my second MA, this time in Education, with a focus on literacy and language arts (meaning literature, rhetoric, and composition). Together, my education qualifies me to teach English, literature, composition, and grammar to students grades 6-12, and college students. Experience: I have tutored in and around Los Angeles for two years. During the past year, I tutored in South Los Angeles, working with English learners on language skills development. I also worked with the nonprofit 826LA West, where I taught a poetry workshop. For additional experience, I translated Sara Nomberg-Przytyk's memoirs of survival of the Holocaust Samson's Columns (Kolumny Samsona), edited several academic texts for various professors at LMU, and I am in the process of composing several academic articles for publication on topics dealing with poststructural/post-marxian discourse theory, and critical race studies.
