I graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California in 2013, where I majored in International Relations and Economics. While a student at USC, I worked as a Tour Guide in the Office of Admission, served as the Membership Chairman of the Panhellenic Council and my sorority, and participated in education outreach programs. After graduating, I joined Teach for America in Los Angeles, through which I served as the 8th Grade US History teacher at Bert Corona Charter School. I completed my two-year commitment in June, and immediately went to work for a top 20 hedge fund, Canyon Capital Advisors.
Experience
Aside from teaching full-time, I have tutored for various families in Los Angeles for over 3 years. I have covered everything from SAT math to 7th grade World History to AP US Government. Although I have a busy schedule, I truly enjoy providing academic support and encouraging students to succeed. I was extremely shy as a child, and although I was bright, I was too afraid to ask for clarification when I was in school. Tutoring was my opportunity to ask questions about topics that I didn’t fully understand. It also significantly improved my grades and helped me build the confidence I needed to participate in large classes later on in my schooling. I want to be able to provide the same for current students. In addition to my undergraduate coursework, I have my social studies teaching credential through Loyola Marymount University, and I completed the Harvard Business School Summer “CORE” Program, where I took courses on Financial Accounting, Economics and Marketing Analytics. I am currently studying for the GMAT and plan to attend Business School in the fall of 2017. My SAT score was a 2180, and I scored a 33 on the ACT.
