Education
Masters degree in English and Comparative Literature from Goldsmiths, University of London Bachelors degree in English Literature from University of Rhode Island (3.9 GPA in major) I was awarded the English Department Award of Excellence in 2009 at the University of Rhode Island for my academic achievements.
Experience
I am currently a Part-Time Instructor of English at El Camino College and at Union County College. However, I also privately tutor middle school, high school, and college-level English including, but certainly not limited to, reading comprehension, essay writing, critical thinking, creative and short story writing, and poetry analysis. I've organized group tutoring sessions as well as private individual sessions with lesson plans pertaining to student’s weekly assignments. I have also tutored for standardized testing preparation. For my tutoring sessions, I provide effective and concise student instruction, clear student/tutor communication, and accurately chart each student’s progress over the course of the academic year. I have tutored privately at all levels while working toward my undergraduate degree at the University of Rhode Island as well as during my graduate degree in London through a company called Reach Tuition. This included middle, high school, and college level English literature and composition, as well as thesis preparation and graduate school dissertation planning and editing.

Hobbies
I am passionate about reading and writing, but am also passionate about learning. I understand and take seriously the necessity of adapting my teaching methods to a student's specific learning style. I love tutoring because it allows me to focus specifically on one student's educational needs, which I believe allows for a much higher success rate. I insist on keeping my group tutoring sessions small as it allows for the same attentiveness for individual students. I love to help others--whether it be through tutoring, volunteering, or simply listening. I care about people and I care about my impact on the world around me.
