Experience
I began tutoring in 2007 in my sophomore year of college to pay my way through college at Pepperdine University. I had quite a bit of free time since I was slated to finish my degree in 2 years due to the number of credits I had accumulated through AP credits and the college courses I had been taking at UC, Riverside starting my 8th grade summer. I began tutoring specifically for the SAT / ACT back in 2012 and partnered / trained with a Princeton Review Master Trainer of 15 years who had previously trained most of the Princeton Review’s Southern California team and had run his own prep business in Newport for 8 years. We were in business together for about 1.5 years before he decided to pursue a separate career in Hollywood as a screenwriter. Just to ballpark students who just show up to tutoring, but aren’t very engaged with the process can expect an average improvement of around 3-4 points on the ACT and 150-200 points on the SAT. However, in students who have been diligent in working on the customized prep assignments I give outside of tutoring have been able to achieve pretty outstanding results, 5+ points on the ACT and 200+ on the SAT. The largest improvement I’ve been able to help a student achieve has been 11 points on the ACT and 400 points on the New SAT.
